In the state of California alone, over 4,000 blackouts occurred from 2008 to 2017 leaving many residents in the dark for as long as hours to days.

Time-of-Use Rates

California is a Time-of-Use rate state which simply means that the time of day you use electricity has a massive effect on your power bill each month.

A way to prevent paying extra for simply using power at a certain time in the day is called Load Shifting or energy arbitrage. This helps you save money by reducing your energy use when electricity rates are the highest.

By storing energy in your solar batteries during off-peak hours, you can then use this energy when rates are highest to lessen the amount of power you use and the amount you end up spending on your electric bill.

Not only is load shifting helping you save your hard earned money, but it also helps lessen the demand on the power grid during peak hours.

Net Energy Metering (NEM)

From participating California utilities, (including PG&E, LADWP, SDG&E, and SCE), under law (AB 290), you can receive monetary payment for energy created by your solar electricity system, in excess, after a twelve month period.
